SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Witham, Lindsey: Bucket List

Before I die, I would love to do some crazy things. I have never made a bucket list, or even written down the things I want to do before I “kick the bucket.” My life has been full of ups and downs and I am only 18! That is why I want to live my life to the fullest and do some rather odd, yet wild activities. Some of these activities are riding a bull, skydiving, swimming with sharks, cliff jumping, and riding with a Blue Angel.
Riding a bull has always been a dream of mine because I love rodeos. I want to experience what it is like to be on top of such a powerful beast that wants to throw me off. Skydiving is also one thing that I want to do before I die. I want to feel like I am flying and see the earth below me coming at a racing speed. Have you ever wanted to feel like you are flying? Who doesn’t?
I would also love to go swimming with sharks. They are fascinating and scary creatures. Their teeth and body size are intimidating and I want to be face to face with one. Cliff jumping is a sport in some places, but for me it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Last but not least, I want to ride with a Blue Angel. They are a special air team of jets in California. I have a dream of flying so fast that I break the sound barrier! Well, with a pilot flying me of course.
This small list from my bucket list might sound too wild and crazy, but it is my dream to do these activities before I die. I am an outgoing person and I feel that nothing can get in my way. I follow the quote, “Live life to the fullest.” It is by someone unknown to me, though. Life is amazing, and everyone should cherish it to the utmost extent!
