The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Daniel, Hauwa: Bucket List

My name is Hauwa Daniel and I am 18 years old from Nigeria in West Africa. I want to accomplish five important things in my life, which are: graduate from the university with a master’s degree, design various software programs to make life easy, help people with as much as I can, be able to speak ten international languages, and work for any security agency.
Going to school and obtaining a master’s degree in computer programing will be a great accomplishment for me, although I would not mind going further to get a doctorate degree. I intend to get a master’s degree as high educational standard because I will be more equipped to design software programs and become more financially independent. Moreover, I want to go through school to stay focused so I can make my family and friends proud by maintaining good grades.
The next thing I aspire to do is to design various software programs to make life easier for myself and people around me. I can help people in the movie industries, medical fields, and any other industries that need a computer programmer. I intend to design software programs by immersing myself fully in school and staying around people with similar focus.
Also, helping people around me how best I can is something I love doing. I adore aiding people because I place smiles on the faces of people who never thought they could smile. That keeps me going; knowing I made someone smile. I hope to accomplish this by being creative in my field of study and by making enough money to help people.
Furthermore, speaking ten international languages is a wish I recently thought of and hope to attain. I want to study other languages because it, along with my programming skills, will help me get better job offers. I desire to acquire the knowledge of other tongues by learning the basics through the Internet and later speaking to people in their own languages.
Last, being a security agent will be the greatest of my desires because I will be at the top of what I do with all the information I need. And I wish to attain this ambition by learning other languages which will help me get a job and do many hours of community service.
