SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Lillard, Kelsey: Bucket List

I believe that most people want the same things out of life. I haven't met a person yet who doesn't want to "travel around the world," pursue a career they love that (at least in their mind) will be lucrative, and of course marry their best friend (okay, that's mostly just girls). As cliché as it is, I too would like these things to occur in my life before I die. But, that's not really what I want this "bucket list" paper to be about, you would guess those things were already on my list. What I want to tell, is what you wouldn't have guessed.
I'd like to live a life serving others. More specifically, to be a missionary for a period of my life. I do not have to go to Kenya and help the poor tribes (although I'd be glad to), staying in the United States would be just fine with me if that's where the work needed to be done.
Secondly, I would like to go on a vacation every year.  It doesn't have to be an exotic location (well, maybe sometimes) just a vacation.
I'd like to taste truffles. I'm a bit of a foodie. They're so darn expensive, so they must be good.
I want to help animal shelters in Arkansas to regroup and succeed, with current spay and neuter laws, small town shelter adoptions are drastically low. It's become so costly to adopt because sterilizing an animal is around $120.
When I get older I want to open a bakery, maybe with my mom helping me (she's an awesome cook). But not just any bakery, I want my bakery to be a place where people gather to tell stories. Here old people come to chat and have their morning bagel. I hope I can share my stories with these people, and in some small way, positively affect their lives.
That's all for now!
