SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Harwood, Kala: Bucket List

Before I die I would like to complete five tasks. Everyone wants to do great things and explore great places. Some of my bucket list items are a little different. Some are simple, but to me they are important tasks to complete before my death.
My first two bucket list items are typical. They both involve travel. Before I die I want to travel to another country. I do not want to travel to Mexico because I went there this summer. It was quite a bit different from our culture.  It intrigues me to learn about places, and see just how unique they are. In addition to going to another country, I would like to take a 7 day cruise. I went on a 5 day cruise this summer and it was magnificent. I would love to do it again, just for a little longer this time.
My next two bucket list items are tasks everyone probably would like to complete, but they may not think of the mas bucket list items. Before I die, I would like to buy a house. It seems so wonderful to own something of one’s own. Before I buy a house, I would like to get married. I want to get married because I am very happy with the relationship I am in and I want it to continue to grow. I will obviously wait until I finish college before getting married.
The final thing on my bucket list is to discover something new.  I do not want to create something, I want to discover something. This is a big world and there have to be many things that man hasn’t found yet. I believe it would be a neat thing to say I have done.
Those are the 5 things I would like to do before I die. Some are normal bucket list items, but others seem to be quite different.
