SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Meyer, Cheyenne: Bucket List

I, Cheyenne Meyer, am known for my big hair and even bigger dreams. Drawn from my wide range of dreams, I have composed a list of five things I would like to accomplish before I die.

The first two items on my bucket list have to do with my musical inclinations. First, I hope to someday attend a live performance of my favorite soul singer, Daryl Hall. Growing up to the smooth yet catchy styles of the pop duo Hall and Oates, it was only natural for me to fall in love with the tow-headed heartthrob. The next item on the list has to do with my own musical career. As an easily-distracted songwriter with “commitment issues,” I begin to compose beautiful ballads but never complete them. Before I die, I want to finish a song that really means something to me and others.

The third and fourth items on my bucket list have to do with my philanthropy. My third list item is to have many beautiful children with a wonderful, loving husband. Of course, these children must have curly hair and interesting names! Next, with a heart for missions, I want to take a mission trip to the impoverished African nation of Ghana to reach the people with God’s love.

The final item on my list has to do with my love for running. Before I die, I hope to run at least one marathon. I believe that the test of endurance in a twenty-six mile race is a healthy way to not only exercise one’s body, but also exercise one’s mind.

Although my dreams are scattered and eclectic, I really do plan to fulfill all of them before I die. I pray that I will leave a legacy behind when I do pass away, that everyone can do anything they dream to do.
