SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Campbell, David: Bucket List

Winston Churchill once said, "History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it." Winners write the history books. I intend to be a winner, if not a man with a significant amount of time on his hands.  What determines a winner?  There is no objective measure; rather, a winner is decided by one's actions and one's reactions.  On a bucket list, there are no rules or restrictions.  Actions are not bound by norms or most other common hindrances.

One dream that I have always had is to get around and travel the world. Notable places that interest me include Scotland, Russia, Italy, Japan, and Disneyworld.  Also, ever since I attended the SAU skate night and made friends with the hard floor several times, it has been a burning aspiration of mine to master the art of roller skating, and not the art of slipping and busting one's posterior.

In the 7th grade, I started a hobby, designing some type of video game. Since then, video game design has been my dream career. A more personal goal of mine to collect at least one of every Pokemon card (printed in English). I have been collecting them since a very young age, and I wish to continue to collect them all.  My final personal goal is to get something published - be it a novel, a poem, an article, anything.

Everybody has dreams and aspirations, goals and ambitions.  Whether we put ourselves to the test of achieving these desires is up to us, and these decisions will shape and form us into the person we become.  Who do we want to become?  How do we want to be remembered? The little things become larger things, and the larger things become greater things, and the greater things become the prominent features that define who we are.
