SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Ballard, Justin: Bucket List

If my doctor were to tell me that I have a certain amount of time left to live, there are a few things I would like to do before I start pushing up daisies.

The first item on my ‘bucket list’ would be to finish college. I cannot stress enough how important that is to me. Only after getting my college degree would I then be able to finish off the rest of this list.

After getting a degree I believe that I would travel overseas. I probably avoid Canada or Mexico, but on second thought might go visit Mexico for its food. Speaking of food, Paris is renowned the world over for its cuisine. I would eat well while there.

This item was actually going to be the fourth item but after a little reconsidering it makes more sense to put this as number three. I would buy an original gold-top Gibson Les Paul guitar. I moved this item to number three because I could carry it with me and get it signed by all of the people I mention in the next item.

The fourth item on my list is my favorite, but probably the least likely to happen. I would like to meet a few rock stars including Jimmy Paige from Led Zeppelin, Carlos Santana, Slash, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, and possibly Steven Tyler.

The last thing I would do would be to spend as much time possible with my family and friends. I would even have an early "going away" party to lessen the blow of my death. With that final item, my bucket list would be completed, and I could pass away in peace.
