SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Morris, Robert:: Bucket List

A Bucket List is a list of, for lack of better word, stuff you want to do before you die. There are five basic things that I want to accomplish in my lifetime. These are not simply thrill seeking, daredevilish events likely to endanger my life, but those things that will define me and mold me into a person remembered millennia from now.

               Firstly I would love to meet Thurgood Marshall. Yes he is dead but no one said it had to be possible to be on my bucket list. Who’s to say a time machine will not be invented in my lifetime, certainly not you.

               Secondly, I would like to become a top defense attorney. This is my number two life goal (number one comes later). This is not simply a dream but will serve as a measuring tool for me as I look back upon my life and attempt to decide whether or not I was truly successful.

               Thirdly, I would enjoy playing catch with my favorite quarterback of all time Drew Brees. I don’t really care if he’s 90 and I have to move his arm for him, as long as the ball leaves his hand and lands in mine I will be satisfied.

               Fourthly, I want to conquer the cinnamon challenge. If you are unaware of what that might be, I intend to take a tablespoon of cinnamon and insert it into my mouth and attempt to swallow the entire thing. Understandably this may be the hardest of any other item on this list.

               Lastly, and most importantly, I would like to stand at the end of my life and look back and know I have fulfilled my purpose, left no stone unturned, and die regret-free. This is my ultimate goal, every day I live for this.

               Thus in conclusion, that was my bucket list. I don’t intend to revise it and stand by it wholeheartedly.
