SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Silveira, Alberto: Bucket List

I always like to keep things simple, which that might be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the situation. At this point in my life, my main goal is to create games. I could say that it is the number one thing on my bucket list, but to get to that point I have to go through years and years of education, preparation, and development. Before that main goal, the second item on my bucket list would be that I want to create a game, design, and animation studio. It does not matter what field I want to cover with my studio as long as I create that big project with my friends. We have been planning that for so many years, so I can not wait for it to be true. Before all that can happen, I need to gain experience from all the work that I am doing right now, and that I will do as a senior or graduate student.  There is one thing that I honestly want then, and that is to be as excited as I am right now during all these coming years. Of course, I want to meet new people who could help me reach my goal quickly. It is really important to be friends with people who share the same interests.

I know that my bucket list must sound dull, but it is my passion. It has brought me a lot of things, in the future it is going to be my work, pay my bills, and connect me with people. When others realize what the games I create are they will not see them as silly or childish. There is much beyond that superficial perception.
