SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Price, Katie: Bucket List

I believe that everyone has goals in life, but a sizable majority of people never achieve those goals. I want to be one of the few people who complete a few of my goals in life.

The first thing on my bucket list is to become a psychiatrist. I recently decided that psychiatry was the career that I wanted to pursue. I could possibly change many people’s lives in this career, and it would make me content to know that I helped them in some way. Secondly, I would love to travel to Finland at some point in my life. The main reason I am so intrigued by Finland is their accents, and the country as a whole is very beautiful. My favorite artist of all time is Esao Andrews. The third goal on my list is to meet him. He creates the album covers for my favorite band, and they have had an impact on my life through my teenage years, so meeting him would be pretty cool. One of the most important items on my list is to, in some way, open people’s minds that body modifications should be accepted in the work place. I believe that having any type of body modification should not keep you from getting a job. Body modifications do not distinguish if you are a hard worker or not. Lastly, I would love to go swimming in Green Lake in Tragoess, Styria. During the winter months it is a popular hiking trail, but during summer, the ice from the mountains melts and the trail is completely submerged in clear water, and you can go swimming. All the items on my bucket list are important to me and I would really like to try to complete them before I “kick the bucket.”
