SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Harger, Zane: Bucket List

-->
            Before I “kick the bucket,” there are a few things I would enjoy being involved in first. I believe that it is important to get out of the box and enjoy your life. I could name probably hundreds of things to do before I die but I will keep my top five picks.

            My first activity to take part in would have to be leaving the United States to visit Rome. I have always enjoyed studying Rome, its architecture, and history. The history of Rome intrigues my interest. I have seen many pictures, read a lot about the history, watched a lot of movies, and I have also played video games based in Rome. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to go.

            The next activity would be visiting all 50 of the United States. I have been to 21 states so far. The only states I lack on my list are the far western states and the New England states. I enjoy seeing all of the national parks and the history that was created there.

            My third activity is to try out for the show Top Shot. My favorite hobby is shooting in competitions. Top Shot is made for the elite shooters as well as the amateur shooters. It would be an awesome experience no doubt.
            Next would have to be seeing the Northern Lights! That is a piece of science and world phenomenon that I would never be able to grasp until I could see it with my own eyes and maybe not even then!

            The last activity is to be in the cast of the next Star Wars movie. I love sci-fi movies and this is my favorite one! I’m not big on acting but I would enjoy being in this movie!
