The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Ford, Jessica: Bucket List

Life is about taking every chance you get to achieve your dreams and running away with them. A bucket list helps you recognize those dreams and strive to make them possible.

On the top of my personal list is traveling around Rome. From the Trevi Fountain to St. Peter’s Basilica, discovering the place where my family originated would the journey of a lifetime. Family is an important aspect in my life which is why my next dream is to get married, have children, and enjoy life. Next, with divorce and infertility are becoming more and more common these days, I wish miracles to people who are dealing with these problems now and in the future. I hope I can escape these heartbreaking struggles myself. Pets are a part of my family. Animals have a huge place in my heart; I plan to rescue a Great Dane. Yes, they are huge and eat excessive amount of food, but there are only a few people in this world who would take on a challenge like that. I am certainly one of those people that would like to take on this difficult but amazing challenge. Along with my animal loving side, I would love to participate in an animal rescue program. Whether by donating money or volunteering my time, helping animals is something that will always be dear to my heart. Now, the only way for me to achieve these dreams is to be successful in my career. Today, the only way for me to achieve these dreams is to be successful in my career. The last item on my bucket list is to own my own business. I am not sure of what kind of business I would like to own or how I’m going to do it, but it is one dream I’ve always had and will achieve for sure.

“We don't have an eternity to realize our dreams, only the time we are here,” Susan S. Taylor.
