SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Anglin, Patricia: Bucket List

Life goes by in the blink of an eye and before that short time ends I want to accomplish so much. There are many things that I could do with my life but I have five things that are the most important to me.

Number one is to start a family. I was raised in a large family. Growing up in a household with five kids makes for a close knit family, and someday I want my kids to have the same close relationship with their siblings that I had with mine.

Number two is to become a nurse. During high school I took an anatomy class and became fascinated with the medical field. I went on to earn my CNA license during my senior year, and for the past six months I have worked in a local nursing home as a CNA. The experience could not have been more fulfilling. The joy that comes with helping people that are helpless compares to nothing I have ever experienced before, and I want to further my education in this field so that I can go on to help many more people.

Number three is to make a difference in someone’s life. The thought of changing the course of someone’s path is remarkable. At some point I want my life to change the future of someone else’s life.

Number four is to travel the world. I love to tour the historical sites of the world. Sites like Stonehenge and the Mayan ruins are fascinating to me and to be able to stand at those amazing remnants of history would be breathtaking.

Number five is to meet the cast of Friends. I am in love with the sitcom and meeting the cast would make my life meaningful.
