SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Saling, Wesley: Bucket List

Well, there isn’t really much that I’d like to do before I die, so I’ll make it short and simple. The sooner I get this over with, the sooner I can get to doing some of the stuff on this list. First up is skydiving. I’m not really much of a daredevil, but skydiving just seems like a fun and interesting opportunity. I mean, who wouldn’t want to jump out of a plane five hundred feet in the air?

Number two on the list is to learn Latin. I figure that learning one of the languages that spawned so many other languages might make it a lot easier to learn those other languages.

Third on the list is a simple but difficult item. I’d really love to unite the entire world under a single banner. Ideally, this single banner would be one of my own design and signify that I was in charge, but I’d settle for helping someone else do it. I’m not really that picky. You see, this one is on the list because I personally believe that the world could be a much better place if one highly charismatic individual were to be able to forcefully control the entire population. By doing so, he could unite the world in resistance to his tyrannical rule.

Finally, I would really love to learn Jeet kun do. Jeet kun do is a martial arts style created by the great Bruce Lee; it borrows techniques from many other styles. It is the second most unpredictable martial arts style, the first being the style popularly known as “Drunken Master.”

This list pretty much covers all of the stuff I’d like to accomplish before I die, which, as you can see, doesn’t actually amount to much.
