SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Bower, Leigan: Bucket List

The definition of bucket list is a list of things you would like to do before you die. I started to think about all the things I’d like to do before I died. I didn’t think it would be all that long because I’m a simple person, but it turned out to be a lot longer than I thought it would be. I narrowed it down to the top five items to give you an insight to the type of person I am.

The first thing I would like to do before I die is to visit a foreign country, preferably Italy. I’ve always wanted to visit Venice or Tuscany. Both very beautiful places that are often seen in memorable screen shots in many movies.

The second thing I would like to do is try every flavor of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. They’re the original inventors of the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, which happens to be my favorite flavor. They have many other interesting flavors too. This item is not a very healthy one, but it will be fun.

Another thing I would like to do before I die would be to produce my very own CD. Everyone tells me that I have a great singing voice, so it would be really awesome to record my own songs.

The fourth and most important thing to me is to marry an amazing guy and have beautiful children. All my life that has been my number one goal. Although starting my own psychology practice is another close goal.

The last thing I would like to try is cliff jumping or skydiving. They both look really fun and dangerous, so I believe it would quite interesting to do either; though if I had to pick I’d probably take cliff jumping over skydiving because it seems less risky.
