Growing up I never really gave much thought to death. It was not something that was often talked about. Therefore I never really thought about the things I wanted to do before I died. However one day when I was on the internet looking at films acted by Morgan Freeman, I came across one of his movies, “The Bucket List.” After reading the plot it got me thinking about the things I wanted to do before I died.
I have always enjoyed traveling. Being raised in a small town, it has always been a dream of mine to travel to the far off places I read about in books or saw on the television. I’ve always wanted to travel to Paris and visit the Louvre, the Eiffel tower, the L’arc du triomphe, and to walk along the banks of the Seine . I’ve also always wanted to visit the colisseum in Rome and attend a church service St. Peter’s Cathedral.
I have always had a fear of heights which I’ve always wanted to get rid of. I intend to accomplish this by either going skydiving or bungee jumping. I believe that if I can conquer this fear, anything else I tried would seem insignificant compared to this feat.
I have never been a good dancer. In high school if there was a dance number that my class had to perform, I would always be placed at the back of the group where I would not be seen. After watching the program “Dancing with the Stars,” I became inspired and decided that someday I would take dancing classes with the goal of being at least half as good as those professionals.
Cooking has always been one of my favorite pastimes. Some of my earliest memories involve me in the kitchen trying to fry eggs. Today, I can fry eggs but still consider myself an amateur in the kitchen. Therefore, I would like to take cooking classes and expand my culinary knowledge and skills.
Finally, I’d like to someday be involved with a non-profit organization such as Operation Smile that provides free medical services to people in impoverished countries. I believe that because I have been fortunate enough to receive good health care, it is my responsibility to provide it to those who are not able to afford it.
