SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Pizza Party

Many thanks to 3rd floor Honors North RA Sarah Grigg for hosting a pizza party for honors students on Tuesday. A large contingent (40+) descended upon the classroom and easily devoured the 10 large pizzas I had delivered from Domino's. Yes, some latecomers did not get any.

Honors student Johanna Hensley helps herself to pizza while others wait their turn. Joshua Wright (left) looks on while C. J. Heaton opens another box (photo by Majesta Miles).

Everyone briefly made a personal introduction. One of the reasons for having the party was to get honors students to better know each other. Majesta Miles shot the photos shown here.

We'll do something similar again soon. Raw oysters anyone? Boiled crawfish? I know, it's Southern Arkansas not Southern Louisiana. Ok, maybe a taco bar or hot dog party? Let me know.
