SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Pinson, Zachary: Bucket List

There are very few things that I would like to do before I die and all of them revolve around me. I don’t want to save the world or anything. I just want to make myself happy.

The first thing that I would like to do before I die is to rebuild my dream car, a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach One. [Like this one?-Dr. Ed] I have waited since I was eight years old for the day that I can rebuild one of my own and drive it up and down the street in front of everybody.

Another thing I want to do before I die is live in Italy. For some reason I have this fascination with Italy and the thought of living in Sicily or Rome intrigues me. An added bonus would be to see the Pope and get the chance to wear his pointy, ceremonial hat.

Since I started learning the guitar, it has been my dream to play well enough to perform a solo on stage. My skills will eventually be as legendary as Eddie Van Halen’s, Jimmie Hendrix’s, Synyster Gates’, and Jimmy Page’s. Or maybe not. Who knows?

After “Iron Man” came out, I began to wonder why doesn’t everyone own one of these robotic suits to fly around and use as we see fit. Because my major, engineering, happens to give me the skills necessary to make this possible, I have decided that I will create my own working exo-suit to show off like Tony Stark.

I doubt that I will ever accomplish all of these things. I do know that I will at least try my best to finish my bucket list and there are a few items that might not be that hard. Either way as long as I finish the first one my life will be complete.
