SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Bucket List Malachi Cox

When I think of a bucket list, I think of life goals that I would be disappointed in myself with if they were never completed. I also believe that having a bucket list can be a very healthy asset. Without future goals, life slows down and loses purpose.

My bucket list ranges in a variety of ways. Some of which being my goal to visit Iceland and stay the night in a bubble hotel during the Winter season and see the Northern Lights. I also consider myself as an adrenaline junkie, therefore, I would love to go bungee jumping.

On the other side of adventure, one of my largest bucket list items is to succeed in reaching my dream profession (Research Marine Biologist). To achieve this goal, I plan on staying incredibly focused throughout college and looking for special opportunities like internships, clubs, and personal research.

One conclusion that I can make is that none of my bucket list items will be completed if I settle down and quit striving for something better.
