SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Bucket List: Jonathan Bunnell

The idea of a bucket list has never come up in my life till now. Previously, I have always taken things in waves, and waves come and go. By picking and choosing those, I have achieved most of what I wanted at moments without thinking much about the future, basically just keeping alive. So, if I have to come with a bucket list, it will only be temporary and will be updated when the next waves hit.

The arguably most important item on my bucket list is to live comfortably. I don’t need overwhelming wealth and the burdens that follow. I only want to have enough money to afford the few hobbies I have along with the time to enjoy them.

Once I am comfortable and can sustain myself is when I will aim for my other goals. I would like to set a record in either Sound Pressure Level (SPL) or International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) competitions. Being born almost completely deaf, once I became able to hear I have always been interested in sound reproduction and sound quality control. Audio was the main reason I chose engineering as my career path.

Engineering also drives my interest in cars. I have always enjoyed learning about how they work, what forces act upon them, and how drivers are able to control vehicles at high speeds. This interest has led to me wanting to build my own vehicle from the ground up someday.
