SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Ajigbotafe, Olawale: President

Being a college president is one of the most stressful jobs one can think of, but it can also be a fun job. First, I would love to be friends with students. Being friends with students helps a lot in being a successful college president. It helps to identify the weak and the strong areas of the university. Knowing those helps in making right decisions. Being friendly to the staff is also important. Having a mutual friendship with them helps them work more effectively.

The area of sports, I would love to make changes at S.A.U. Playing on a soccer team is one the dream of many international student. I would make it possible for them to pursue that dream at S.A.U. S.A.U has a great academics and athletics program but the athletics program does not seem to be complete without a soccer team. The international students represent a large population and soccer is the most widely played sport in the world. It is also the favorite sport of most international students. But soccer is not a popular sport in S.A.U. I would implement soccer at S.A.U, which would make S.A.U a well rounded school when it comes to athletics.

Education is the most important part of a college and it has been the key to S.A.U’s success over the years. S.A.U’s education is not the world’s best, but it can be one of the best values in the world. S.A.U’s school fees are affordable compared to other universities around the world. Being the president of S.A.U, I would work towards improving the school’s academic program.

S.A.U is a great school and with me being the president, I would make few changes in the school’s policy, not only to make the school better, but also to make it compete among the top universities in the world.
