SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

New Chairs for Honors Hall Classroom

Thirty chairs in the back of Clay's pickup

The view from the back, fortunately I did not need my rearview mirror!

I took a quick trip to Little Rock today to pick up 30 new chairs for the SAU Honors College classroom located in the Honors Hall. Ten new tables are on their way too. But, those will come from Southern Aluminum only a short distance away.

The Honors College picked up the chairs in order to save a $600 delivery charge. We're in the wrong business. David and I stacked the chairs in the Honors Hall classroom this afternoon. It's interesting how varied the job description of honors staff is. Today we ordered four iPads, began admitting new students, set the menu for the upcoming Honors Council meeting, and picked up and stacked chairs.

Need to pass along our thanks to DM for making the chairs a reality.
