Portmann, Robbie: Bucket List

Life is full of many sweet memories and dull moments; however, before the Lord calls me to heaven there are a few things I would like to experience. Getting married is at the top of my list. Finding the man who makes me smile when I’m down and near crying can only make life more meaningful. Even though my life might not always be the richest or the brightest every day, being with my true love will allow me to learn how to get along with another person through thick and thin, wealth and poverty, sickness and health until death does us part. Sharing my life with someone will also keep me from being lonely during stormy nights and long winters. Next, I would love to have children. Raising a child will allow me to teach another human being what life means by sharing what I have experienced throughout the years. Also, as a science major, I believe it would be quite interesting to see how the child’s genetics plays out between the father and me. Having grandchildren in the future is also another plus to bearing a child. Finally, I would love to bungee jump. This daring action will thrill me and allow me face my fear of heights. Falling down through the air with only a cord attached to my ankles would provide a sense of adventure that might show me how fast life can end and help me appreciate life even more. Even though my life could be fulfilled through many events, I believe that having a family while retaining a touch of adventure in my life would allow me to live my life to the fullest.

Mosley, Lora: Bucket List

Have you ever thought about your bucket list? I have written mine down. The top five things that I want to do are sky diving, scuba diving, traveling to Europe, going on a safari, and working with girls sold into slavery in India.

I want to go sky diving. The adrenaline rush, the experience itself, and the view is exactly what I need to live life to its fullest potential.

Scuba diving is something my dad and I have always wanted to do. I would go scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. It would be an even greater experience being able to do it with my dad.

Traveling is another thing I aspire to. I want to experience different cultures, and one place that offers that is Europe. Europe has a variety of cultures in close proximity, and each has different and unique traditions.

I also want to go on a safari. I want to see the animals usually seen in the zoo in their natural habitat. The photo opportunities on a safari are also amazing. I want to be able to document how each species interacts with each other and with other species.

Lastly, I want to work with girls who are sold into slavery in India. India is a hot spot for human trafficking. Mumbai has its own red light district. India and all those girls hold a special place in my heart. If the red light district in Mumbai is eliminated, then human trafficking around the world might begin to decline.

If you haven’t written your bucket list, you should. It gives you goals to do, and you’re more likely to complete those goals if you’ve written them down. It also inspires you to try things you never thought you could do.

Orsak, Tori: Bucket List

When people are faced with death thoughts about how they have lived seem to fill their minds and consume them. At the point of death they think of what they would have wanted to do before dying. Some people choose to create bucket lists to prepare themselves for death and, thus, to avoid regret. The following list is my attempt at avoiding such regret, my bucket list.

First on my list would be to travel to Holland. That country is beautiful and has an amazing culture of which I have always dreamed of experiencing first hand. If Death takes me before I am able to go to Holland it would be a true tragedy. When I was younger I read the book Postcards from No Man's Land and have since been fascinated with Holland. It is my dream to follow the footsteps of the main character, Jacob Todd, and explore Amsterdam as he did.

Next on my list, though it is less important than my trip to Holland, is building a house. The idea of raising a house with my own two hands and really making it mine is a very appealing concept to me. I hope to one day turn my hard work into a place that I will truly enjoy.

Although the list could be longer, the third item on it to invent something used by people all over the world. Fame is sought by many and achieved by few. While some seek fame from their personal talents, I want my fame to stem from something I contributed to the world to make it better.

Experiences and personal interests of individuals make bucket lists truly unique. This short list is nothing in comparison to the total amount of things I would love to accomplish and do before I leave this world.

Hughes, Deana: Bucket List

My dreams for life range from simple to serious. A few of the things I would like to do before this life is over are visit the set of Stargate, go to a Blue Man Group concert, ride mules into the Grand Canyon, travel to other countries, and adopt a child.

At home everyone has a favorite Sci-Fi show and mine is Stargate. I have seen every episode of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe. I love the historical fiction as the Goa’uld portray the gods of Egypt and Greece. The newest version of the show, Stargate Universe, is filmed in Vancouver, Canada. I am a geeky fan girl and I would like to tour the set someday.

I am a percussionist so songs from Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Blue Man Group frequent my iPod’s playlist. It is fascinating how the Blue Men make their own instruments and I hear their light shows are awesome. A Blue Man Group concert is essential on my list of things to do.

My dad has always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon and his enthusiasm has rubbed off on me. I have planned the perfect Grand Canyon trip. We will ride the mules down into the canyon, stay at Phantom Ranch on the floor of the canyon, and then ride them back up the next day.

I have been fascinated with Europe since the 5th grade when I took my first art history class. I even took two and a half years of French to qualify for a trip to France, but unforeseen circumstance caused me to miss that opportunity. I hope to remedy that someday by visiting France, Italy, Greece, Scotland, and Ireland. I would also like to see Egypt and Australia.

If nothing else on this list becomes reality then this last one will. A few years ago I realized that someday I wanted to adopt a child. In my opinion, it is not necessary for me to make another child when there is already one on this planet that needs my love.

Stone, James: Bucket List

All people have things that they dream of doing. Some want riches and others want fame. I value the simple pleasures in life the most. When I’m old I want to look back at a life of excitement, meaning, purpose, and fun. For my bucket list I chose things that would make my life more enjoyable and meaningful.

1. 1) To Fall in Love: This may be an obvious choice, however some people spend an entire life looking for love and never find it. I want to find that perfect woman who can complete me both spiritually and physically. Then we can raise a family in the spirit of Christ.
2. 2) To Travel Abroad: A dream that I have had for a while is to travel all over the world. I want to see everything that this world that I can. It really doesn’t matter where I go, just as long as I see new cultures and experience new things.
3. 3) To Throw A Party With ALL of My Facebook Friends Invited: This would be the most fun I have ever had in my life. Hosting a party for all my friends from every background would be awesome.
4. 4) To Become the Director of Barton Bible Camp: My religion is a huge part of my life, and so is my church camp. Barton Bible Camp is where I learned a lot about God. I hope to one day direct the camp that I love and to help other kids.
5. 5) To Win National FFA Poultry Evaluation Contest: Three friends and I are competing in October to complete this goal. It would be a great experience to win and to be immortalized forever in history.

In life, I want to gain valuable experiences that will not only make my life richer, but will enrich the lives of other people. I hope that by writing this bucket list that I will be able to realize my dreams faster than ever.

Lamb, Allie: Bucket List

My bucket list is as diverse as my personality. Sometimes I’m serious, but usually I’m silly. Ever since I was a young child, I’ve heard about Santa’s workshop in the North Pole, so obviously I want to go there. Whether or not I’m on the naughty or nice list doesn’t matter. I just want to take a sleigh trip all the way to the North Pole. Ideally, my trip would take place around December 20th so I can actually see Santa and his elves hard at work. I want to see what all the fuss is about. Is it really that hard to hand-make toys for all the little girls and boys around the world? Well, when I get to the North Pole, I’ll find out.

I’m a huge baseball fan, and someday I want to visit every single major league baseball park. I don’t want to just see an empty park, though. I want to see them in all their glory; full of beer-drinking fans, hot dog sellers, and the two teams on the field.

Another place I want to visit is the Holy Land. I want to be able to walk over the same land Jesus did. I want to see the place where He was crucified. Visiting Jerusalem and all of the other sacred cities in the Holy Land would be nearly indescribable, but I expect it would make me feel close to the Son of God.

For the past two years, I have been completely addicted to the television show, “Law and Order SVU,” and its main actor, Chris Meloni. Naturally, I want to meet him, just like any crazed fan would, but an informal encounter on the streets of New York City won’t do it for me. I want the privilege of presenting him an Emmy at the annual Emmy Awards. That way, we would both be dressed up and ready for pictures. I cannot think of a better environment to meet my celebrity crush.

Anyone who personally knows my family thinks we are perfect for our own reality TV show, which is exactly what I want before I kick the bucket. So many misadventures and catastrophes happen to us that it would be impossible for an audience to find our lives boring. Why should we keep all the hilarity to ourselves? We might as well have others enjoy it too. Now that I think about it, I don’t need a college education to accomplish any of these things. I think I’ll start with the North Pole!

Nash, Brandy: Bucket List

Life is the most precious gift given by God, but people rarely take the opportunity to live it to the fullest. School, work, and many other things take priority over personal time and goals. Sometimes life just takes off! Goals left behind on paper become nothing more than a forgotten to-do list. However, such lists exist and are real for many people in the form of a bucket list.

Sharing memories is very important to me, so naturally, being married is the top priority on my bucket list. I need to share my life with someone, to allow him the opportunity to experience life with me. The prospect of sharing life with someone you love is one of the most coveted treasures in life. If my husband feels loved with every breath he takes, then I will have accomplished this first goal.

It would be my next greatest hope that whoever I chose to spend the rest of my life with would turn that love into a family of our own. I would love to have my own family! I come from a huge family, so to start a family of my own is an immense need for me. I have taught pre-school for two years and during the days that I taught those little ones I would often think about how crazy I am for wanting my own little ones. However, I know that my children would feel loved and that I would be more than happy to care for them with every beat of my heart. I want to pass on the love my parents have showered over me and to take the time to love my own children with the compassion that only a mother can display.

One adventure that I have not experienced is a moose hunt. I want to go moose hunting with my father. Hunting runs in my veins. I share that passion with my father. We have hunted for many animals, but never moose. One day we will.

He is retired from the Navy and he still holds a deep love for the ocean. We share that love too. We would love to scuba dive off the Great Barrier Reef! Because some of the world’s most diverse and amazing sea life abounds there. Diving at that reef would be a wonderful experience.

Later in life, I would love to experience the things that different countries have to offer. Traveling is an enormous love of mine! I would love to travel everywhere. I admire the history of Europe, and I crave the food in Asia. Africa’s wildlife is captivating, and the culture in South America is enriching!

Although I have written this list of things to do before I die, I have no idea whether or not I will complete it, but that is not a bad thing. Life is meant to be lived! I want my life to be something I did, not something I wrote.
