SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Here are some data regarding Honors College enrollment in Spring 2021

90 students are enrolled in honors classes

58 honors classes are being offered

46 faculty are teaching an honors course

52 separate course topics are being offered

In terms of SAU College the breakdown is a follows:

  • The College of Business is offering 7 courses to 7 students
  • The College of Education is offering 5 courses to 10 students
  • The College of Liberal and Performing Arts is offering 23 courses to 39 students
  • The College of Science and Engineering is offering 23 classes to 33 students
  • The Honors College is offering 1 class to 1 student
