SAU Honors College

The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. Anyone interested in applying to the Honors College or seeking further information should contact the director, Dr. Edward P. Kardas at epkardas@saumag.edu or at 870 904-8897.

Fall Trip: SciPort in Shreveport, September 10

David and I just signed the paperwork for the first Honors College trip of the 2011-12 academic year. We will take a busload (e.g., 23 passengers) to Shreveport's SciPort on Saturday, September 10, 2011. There we will take in their exhibits and later watch the IMax movie: Tornado Alley.

After we will visit Bossier City's Louisiana Boardwalk to shop and eat. We will be back late Saturday. Departure times and other details will be announced later.

So, watch your e-mail in September for more details. This will be a first come first serve event AFTER it is announced via your CAMPUS e-mail.

Drop by for a cuppa

Honors College now has a Keurig hot beverage machine that makes one-cup servings of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Drop by sometime and have a cup.
