The SAU Honors College was founded in 2003 by Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU. Dr. Lynne Belcher served as founding director and is retired from SAU. The Honors College seeks and admits qualified students who seek to pursue a serious academic program with equally gifted peers and committed teachers. Honors classes are small and provide academically enriching opportunities for students and the faculty who teach them. Currently, SAU enrolls nearly 170 honors students and graduates about 66% of admitees in four years or less. The Honors College congratulates James Stone upon his graduation in May 2014. He plans to pursue a career in Agricultural education, and is currently looking for jobs in several schools of the State of Arkansas. He plans to pursue a Master at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville if he fails to obtain a job as a teacher in either Agriculture or Biology after his certification.
The Honors College congratulates Subir Shakya upon his graduation in May 2014. He plans to entertain his parents by taking them around the East Coast for a month, and spend the rest of his Summer vacation at the Smithsonian. He plans to start Graduate school at Louisiana State University next fall.
Honors College alum Chris Harris continues his march through the halls of academe. He will move to Scotland soon to begin a master's program in Terrorism Studies. Way to go Chris!
The Honors College congratulates Michaela Dison upon her graduation in May 2014. She plans to travel to the Phillipines immediately after graduation. Later, she will begin work.
The Honors College congratulates Deana Hughes upon her graduation in May 2014. She will work during the entire Summer vacation and will start Graduate school at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway next fall. She will be teaching laboratory sessions and will be doing researches.
