Kardas named to NCHC Research Committee



Dr. Edward Kardas was named to the National Collegiate Honors Council's (NCHC) Research Committee recently. The charge of the Research Committe is to:

  • 1.  Encourage, stimulate, and undertake research directed towards honors programs, honors students, and honors faculty. 
  • 2.  Work closely with the Conference Program Planner and the Conference Planning Committee to develop workshops and presentations reflecting current and ongoing research in honors. 
  • 3.  Identify areas of research related to the academically talented student and appropriate pedagogy, environments, and/or co-curricular activities for honors students. 
  • 4.  Serve as a resource for NCHC Committees seeking to do research by providing help as needed. 
  • 5.  Develop regular communications to NCHC publications. 
  • 6.  Report regularly to the Board of Directors and to the members of NCHC the findings of research, together with recommendations toward improving the quality of educational practices in honors programs. 
  • 7.  Work to meet the goals and objectives of NCHC’s Mission Statement.
Dr. Kardas and Ms. Deborah Wilson presented preliminary data from their ongoing Honors College admissions research at the NCHC's 2010 annual meeting in Kansas City. They are currently engaged in follow up research and plan to present it at the 2011 NCHC meeting in Phoenix.
